M106 / NGC 4258

A spiral "neighbor" about 23 million light years away.

Location: Canes Venatici
Magnitude: 9.1 Date: April 17/09
Camera: Meade DSI-IIC
Exposures: 21
Exposure length: 30 seconds, guided
Gain: 63
Offset: 0

Notes: Guided in RA using Meade DSI-pro camera on ETX-90 piggyback setup. Clouds rolled in early, leaving me with only 21 frames to work with. A longer time exposure could be expected to produce much improved detail. Another smaller galaxy can be seen in the lower right corner.
