M31 - NGC 224 - Andromeda Galaxy - Aug. 27/08

Magnitude: 3.4
Size: 189.1' x 61.7' (showing approx. 32'x16') Location: Andromeda
Date: Aug 21/06
Details: DSI PRO, 15 second frames x 80, gain:32 offset:0
K3 Brightness Level Meter: not noted
Filters: IR filter (within camera)
Magnification: approx. 150x

Notes:
3-image mosaic, captured, aligned, stacked in K3ccdtools, stitched together and histogram adjusted in Imerge, noise reduction in Photoshop. Still WAY too large to fit in the final image; this is just the core.

M31 - Andromeda Galaxy

M31 - NGC 224 - Andromeda Galaxy

Magnitude: 3.4
Size: 189.1' x 61.7' Location: Andromeda
Date: Aug 21/06
Details: RAWmode A0 B50 GN76 GM0 T60S R50/B25 x60exp
K3 Brightness Level Meter: not noted
Filters: Orion Skyglow Filter
Magnification: Using 28mm Camera lens on SC2 ToUcam Pro II

Notes: This field of view is approximately 7 degrees on the diagonal, and was shot through a camera lens ONLY, using the scope only for tracking. M110 is also faintly visible above the core, and to the left. This is a very difficult target to image, due to its size and bright core. Color balance was off, (converted to black and white during processing) and should be more like R30/B18. Shooting deep sky objects with Gamma of 0 may not be the best option (in future, I'll try setting Gamma to 50). Noise reduction in NeatImage, contrast enhancement and level adjustment in Photoshop.
