M82 - "The Cigar Galaxy"

	M82 "Cigar" Galaxy NGC 3034 An irregular edge-on galaxy view, 11.5 million light years away. This is my July 28th shot, reprocessed with much better results. Magnitude: 9.5 Location: Ursa Major Date: July 28, 2008 Exposures: 40 Exposure length: 15 seconds Amp on setting: OFF; RAW mode Brightness: 100% Gamma: 51% Gain: 60% Color: R34B18 Notes: A decent shot, although M82 was less than 30 degrees above the horizon.

Magnitude: 9.5 Location: Ursa Major Date: Sept 25/04 Exposures: 133 Exposure length: 4 seconds Amp on setting: OFF Brightness: 100 Gain: 40 Notes: Some drift is evident as smudged stars. 4 second exposures got this Mag 9.5 object nicely, although longer exposures may bring out some subtlety in the outer regions. A bright core makes for a difficult shot to balance.
